Caring for the elderly has never been just a job for me, it has always been a calling.

Straight after school, I started working in an old-age home. It didn’t take long for me to realise that this was where my heart truly belonged. My love for older people was shaped long before that, growing up very close to my grandmother, who played a huge role in my life. Through her, I developed a deep respect for the elderly and a sensitivity to how often they are hurt, neglected, or mistreated, something that sadly happens every day.

I believe that caring for older people must come from the heart. Too often, I’ve seen care treated as just another job. For me, it never has been. After moving from Witbank, I began caring for an elderly woman one-on-one, and it was during this time that the dream of NursesRus was born, a dream rooted in genuine love, dignity, and respect for the elderly.

Along the way, I recognised a serious gap in the quality of training and support given to caregivers. I will never expect a caregiver to do something I would not be willing to do myself. Continuous training, emotional support, and motivation are central to what we do, because caregiving is emotionally demanding. My caregivers are just as important to me as the clients we serve, and I make it my daily responsibility to care for them too.

At NursesRus, we are not driven by money. We are driven by purpose. I truly believe that quality of life matters more than quality of money. If you have the heart and love for the elderly, the skills can always be taught.

In every elderly person I meet, I see a reflection of my own grandmother. And that is how I choose to care, with patience, compassion, and genuine love. This heart-led approach is what shapes everything we do at NursesRus.
